The oils should be placed in places where they cannot be touched by pets or children. Oils can be applied by placing a few drops on a cotton wool ball and placing near the area or by
spraying the area with essential oil in water. After adding the essential oils to the water, shake the bottle before each use. Be careful, as essential oils can damage fabrics.
Below is a list of suggested oils, depending on the pest problem:
• Ants – peppermint oil will send ants from problem areas. Add a drop to entrance nooks and
crannies.
• Fleas – lemongrass, lavender
• Flying insects in the house – To deter flying insects and also fragrance the room, a drop of essential oil can be added to paper strips, cotton ribbon or kitchen towel strips and hung above the window.
• Flies and moths – dislike lavender oil. Moths also dislike citrus oils.
• Mice – use peppermint or spearmint (fresh or dried plant), or essential oil to water and alcohol. It is also possible to place drops of essential oil on cotton wool balls in any nooks and crannies to help remove them from the area.
• Mosquitoes – peppermint helps to keep them away. It is also possible to use lavender or lemongrass
• Plant Lice – spearmint or peppermint
• Snails – dislike cedarwood, patchouli
